I have a friend. And, like a few of my friends (you know who you are), I have never met her face to face. But, if there is one thing this blog world has taught me, it is that you do not always have to meet someone face to face in order to make a friend. A REAL friend.
Now, I understand that there are quite a few that will not understand that fact, but that is neither here nor there. The fact remains, I have a friend.
My friend is 25 years old. She is a giver - a giver of exquisitely wrapped gifts, given with more heart than anyone I know and a giver of herself. She gives up sleep to be there in a time of need for one of her "girls", she gives up space in her home and her heart for people in need and she gives up herself for those she loves.
No, I have never met this friend in real life ... but we have talked, texted, emailed and laughed and cried at, over and for each other. Honestly, she is like one of my children to me. I love her that much. And, right now, my friend is in need. In need of prayer.
Amy Beth shares a lot of herself on her blog - her hopes, dreams, highs and lows. She has not been evasive in sharing the dreams that she has for her life. She wants a family - a husband and children ... and a mother in law (who, incidentally, will be the luckiest mother in law alive!!). She has spent years praying over these people that she has not even met yet. She has already given them her heart.
But, in the last few months, my friend has had some health problems. She contracted mono and it has kicked her hiney. She also was diagnosed with pneumonia and then they found something worse. In short, her condition - which they are now labeling a disease - is causing her body to form cysts. Cysts on and in her lungs as well as her ovaries and uterus. They do not believe that they are cancerous - at this time. But it is a possibility and the long and short of it is that, cancer or not, my sweet Amy Beth is being told that she cannot ever have a child.
I cannot tell you how this breaks my heart.
Because it breaks hers.
So, as her friends, there are some of us that are committing to spend an hour in prayer for our friend tomorrow. Now, I am not asking you to commit an hour, but I am asking you to pray - however you feel led. Please.Just.Pray.
HERE is a link to Amy Beth's blog (I dare you to read it and not fall in love with her!), please feel free to visit her. And, PLEASE pray.
Thanks!!

oh my. This was such a sweet post and yet heartbreaking at the same time. I agree with you on making friends in the blogworld and they truly becoming your friends. I have made a few myself. God definitely has used the blog world to bless me.
I will be praying for your friend, about to say my prayers for the night and she will be at the top of list. Praying that God comforts Amy Beth and may he do a miracle in her life!
I look forward to reading more of your blog and "talking" on twitter! SO good to meet you!
