Hot For The Holidays - Week 6

Hot for the Holidays

So, here we are for another week. I gotta tell ya, I am feeling more than a little discouraged today. I have been a workout fiend this week - running (oh yeah, running ... have you MET me ... running, soooooo not my thing) on the treadmill at least a mile every day ... EVERYDAY, DVD workouts at least once a day (and a few times I had to jump around a crawling baby and a curious preschooler - which should SO count as extra!!!), totally sticking to healthy foods and COMPLETELY avoiding soda and coffee. I cannot tell you the no-caffeine induced headache I have been nursing this week, but I have stuck to only water, some juice and milk (in small doses) for beverages.

And, can I tell ya, that after all of this, to step on the scale and find only a .2 loss was very deflating. Now, to be fair, when I checked on Tuesday I was up a pound, so I guess any loss is a good thing. At least that is what I am holding on to. But still ...

As you can see, I am in need of some encouraging.

Seriously, so far this week I have found a carton of ice cream in the basement freezer, a big 'ol bag of corn dogs in the kitchen freezer and a Costco size box of graham crackers (a serious weakness of mine) in the pantry. So, clearly, a fall would not be hard. Staying focused and on this wagon, THAT is a feat.

Now, we are supposed to tell which body part we dislike or want changed. That would be the part between my noggin and my toes. Oh, OK, if I have to choose, I would say that my upper torso (arms and shoulders), because I want so badly to be able to wear tank tops and other such cuteness in the summer. If I could somehow, magically, have arms like Barby K., that would be swell!!!!!

Does Barby K. even read this? Hmmmm????

Plus, one single chin would not be so bad.

Anyhoo, because laughter is exercise, here is a workout for ya...

Now, that is FUNNY!!!!

12 of ya left some love:

That video is soooo funny!!!

Keep at it! You can do it! You already have a "hot" personality- you can have a "hot" body too!

Hahaha..I feel full just from watching that video--feel like I need a carrot or something healthy :) I love her!

Don't be discouraged RS...this will take time. And as far as the exercise thing, be patient. I've heard from a Dr.and a Personal Trainer (on different occasions- years apart) that it takes your brain and your body 12 weeks to get in sync with one another. I know from personal experience that this is true. You gotta give it time, be persistent, and stay determined.

And as for the food temptations at home, I subscribe to the "Out of sight, out of mind" theory. Purge your home of foods that tempt you! It's OK to splurge every now and then, but don't buy foods that will tempt you (For instance, I can't buy Pringles or Oreos- cuz I'll eat em all! And instead of grabbing that piece of fruit or veggies and hummus- I'll reach into the Pringles can or the cookie jar). Purge the Home...Once again, Purge the Home! :) And don't blame the kids or hubby- they'll all adjust, b/c we are all human- and when we are hungry enough- we'll eat what's in front of us.

You are beautiful- fearfully and wonderfully made. I'm proud of you for your efforts. Stay encouraged and keep it up. I promise, you WILL see results! And embrace who YOU are now- truly beautiful from the inside out.

Love ya!

I spotted several nonscale victories in your blog!! You're commitment to exercising & eating all healthy foods!! Sticking to no caffeine even with the headache - now I've been there and that's no easy thing! I always cave after a day or two!! And to resist all the tempting foods!! I think you're already well ahead of the game!!!

Wow! Great job this week!

All that exercising probably had you building muscle this week. I'm sure if you stick to it the weight will come off!

Wow, great job on all that excercise. I'm sure next week the scale will show great numbers. This week your body was probably like "Whoa" whats going on? and holding on the the weight for dear life. Not to worry, i'm sure it will fall off next weigh in.

hey I agree with Tameka! You rocked this week! So it didn't translate on the scale yet but the key word in that sentence is "yet"!!! it will, if you stay consistent. your body doesn't know "time" so it didn't lose in time for the weigh-in, but that doesn't mean it won't. i am talking you down from that ledge. DON'T JUMP! you're doing awesome! little victories. ps. you win the prize this week! e-mail me right away!! christieo_7 at msn dot com! congrats!! wooohoo!!

Don't be discouraged. When you work out along with burning fat, you're developing muscle. Muscle weighs more than fat BUT takes up less room sooooo I bet you lost some inches! Keep up the great work *hugs*
